About Us
Our Story
Elego was founded by Zoë Egelman and Carly Goeman, long-time colleagues who began their legal careers at Cravath, Swaine & Moore and went on to advise start-ups and investors at Cooley. After years representing high-growth companies and venture funds, we set out to build a new model to deliver the caliber of elite firms with the efficiency and adaptability of a tech-enabled boutique.
Our Tech-Forward Approach
We believe legal services should keep pace with the businesses they serve. We use technology to cut out inefficiencies and reduce costs to deliver counsel with greater clarity and precision. Our tools don’t replace judgment, but enhance it. We make it a priority to continuously evaluate and fully leverage the best legal technology available. By automating what can be automated, we spend less time on execution and more time as true partners: advising, problem-solving, and helping clients move forward with confidence.
Pricing
Our Philosophy
Elego combines elite expertise with modern technology to deliver exceptional legal work at predictable prices. We believe clients should know what to expect, both in process and in cost. Unlike traditional hourly billing, our fixed-fee approach allows you to budget accurately and eliminates surprises.
Fixed Fee Methodology
Our fixed fees are designed to reflect top quality work delivered through streamlined, technology-enabled workflows. Prices are calibrated to our standard hourly rate adjusted for expected efficiencies. This means you receive sophisticated counsel at a known cost, and typically at a discount to what traditional hourly billing would generate for the same engagement.
Engagement Process
Upon request, we can provide illustrative fee ranges for standard engagements and key variables that drive fees up or down. We’ll work with you to scope the engagement and confirm a fixed or capped fee before work begins based on transaction complexity, timelines, and counterparties involved. For matters with significant variability (e.g., M&A), we provide custom pricing based on deal-specific parameters.
